Get in touch

Tell us what's going on, in whatever words you have for it.
You don't need the right legal term, and you do not need your paperwork in perfect order yet.
A short conversation is usually enough to know where you stand.

Neil T. Jorgenson

There is no intake team here. Neil reads every message himself, replies within two business days, and sets up a call from there.

Send a message

Fill this in and it opens a ready-to-send email to Neil.

Best way to reach you

Please keep this first message general. Until Neil has checked for conflicts and agreed to represent you, what you send through this form is not confidential and no attorney–client relationship exists. Save the details for the call.

Or email directly — office@jorlaw.com

Almost there

Your email program should have opened with the message ready to go — press send and it is on its way. Neil reads every message himself and replies within two business days, then arranges a call at a time that suits you.

If nothing opened, email office@jorlaw.com directly and paste your note in. It reaches the same place.

After you reach out

What happens next

Most people have never hired a lawyer before and are not sure what they are signing up for by sending a message. Here is the whole process.

01

Neil reads it himself

No intake service, no case manager, no chatbot. The person reading your message is the person who would handle your matter.

02

He replies and sets up a call

Neil answers by email and offers a time to talk it through by phone, at whatever hour works for you.

03

You decide, with the cost in writing

If it makes sense to go further, you get the hourly rate and the scope in writing before anything begins. If it does not, Neil will say so.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

The things people usually want to know before they get in touch.

Does the first conversation cost anything?

Reach out and say what's going on. Neil will tell you plainly, before either of you spends any real time on it, whether there's a cost to talk further and what that looks like. You will not be asked for a card up front, and there is no obligation at the end of that first conversation.

Do I actually need a lawyer for this?

Sometimes not, and Neil will tell you so. Plenty of these calls end with a short explanation of how to handle something yourself. Fifty years in practice is long enough to have stopped needing every conversation to turn into a case.

What will it cost if I do hire him?

Neil bills hourly. What the whole matter comes to depends on how involved it turns out to be, so he will walk you through the likely range for something like yours on the first call. The rate and the scope go to you in writing before any work starts — no open-ended engagement.

How soon will I hear back?

Within two business days of a message sent through this page or an email to office@jorlaw.com. If your matter has a court date or a filing deadline in the next few days, say so in the first line and it will move to the top.

Will I be working with Neil, or with staff?

With Neil. This is a solo practice, which means the attorney you write to is the attorney who handles your matter from start to finish. Nothing gets handed to an associate you have never met.

What should I bring or have ready?

For the first call, nothing at all. If you happen to have relevant documents — a will, a court notice, a letter from a creditor or from the IRS — it helps to have them nearby, but do not delay writing in order to gather paperwork.

Can we meet by phone instead of in person?

Yes. Plenty of matters are handled entirely by phone, email, and mail. Neil does not take video calls, so it will be a phone call rather than a link. Some documents do need to be signed in person before a notary, and he will tell you in advance if yours are among them.

Is what I write in this form confidential?

Not yet. Until Neil has run a conflicts check and formally agreed to represent you, anything sent through this form is not protected by attorney–client privilege, and sending it does not make you a client. Keep the first message general — a sentence about the type of problem is enough. Everything after that call is fully privileged.
